Well I haven’t read any studies to prove this, but having a trained dog that teaches responsibility, appropriate behavior, calming techniques and unconditional love and friendship to a developmentally delayed child can be a Godsend to a parent and a marriage. And the icing on the cake is that, just by being part of the family and living with a trained service dog, the child’s parents benefit in countless ways also. it’s a fringe benefit!
