I’m a mother of a teen with high functioning autism complicated by anxiety and depression. We have always given our daughter every opportunity to live life to the fullest, have diverse and challenging experiences, have high expectations and aspirations, and to have the resources she needs to achieve these goals. Right now, providing her with a service dog to increase her independence, bridge the social gap, and to lessen the effects of her anxiety and depression, is the direction we’ve chosen as a family to go. This blog is a record and diary of the process of obtaining the service dog for her and how her life changes as a result.
